A part of Development Services, the Inspections Department enforces the North Carolina State Building Codes for building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire and minimum housing. Radon is not a concern at Seymour Johnson. Radon screening was conducted at SJAFB in the 1980's and all results were below 5.0 Picocuries per liter (pCi/L; Owen 2008)

12.  Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint Identification Surveys

Not applicable; all on-base housing units have been built with asbestos-free materials (SJAFB 1995).
